The Heritage Imperative: Old Buildings in an Age of Environmental Crisis

The Heritage Canada Foundation’s 36th Annual Conference in collaboration with the Ontario Heritage Trust
and in cooperation with
the Canadian Association of Heritage Professionals will take place on September 24-26,
2009 at the Fairmont Royal York Hotel.
The conference will feature a dynamic mix of speakers and delegates from
the fields of heritage preservation, environmental conservation and green building, including
the global visionary Dr. Thomas Homer-Dixon.

Erosion and Sediment Control Training Course  - November 16th

The Canada Green Building Council Greater Toronto Chapter in partnership with the Toronto and Region
Conservation Authority will be offering a 1-day Erosion and Sediment Control Basics course on November
16, 2009.  The course will be delivered by Shirley D.Morrow, a Certified Professional in Erosion and Sediment
Control (CPESC) and president of ABCs of BMPs, a consulting company that provides classroom style
training and consulting services to various organizations across the U.S., including federal and state agencies, municipalities, and the private sector.  Topics covered will include: Principles of Effective ESC, Erosion Prevention, Sediment Control, and Procedures for In-water and Near-water Works. 

A registration announcement will be posted at www.sustainabletechnologies.ca and in the events listing of the
Chapter Website within the next few weeks.

Following the amazing success of the first CaGBC - GTC Green Building Tour, we are organizing a second tour
coming up this fall! Be sure not to miss your chance for this enjoyable educational tour featuring new sites across

Boat Cruise - September 16th - Sold Out!

The Canada Green Building Council - Greater Toronto Chapter is pleased to announce that our first Boat Cruise is completely sold out! The event, which will take place on September 16th on board the Mariposa Belle on Lake Ontario, will feature a presentation by Waterfront Toronto CEO John Campbell, as well as door prizes, DJ, and
dinner.

It will be a great opportunity to learn more about the of Toronto waterfront's revitalization, and  network with a
variety of colleagues in the green building sector.

Volunteer Opportunities for the CaGBC-GTC booth at the Green Building Festival

The Canada Green Building Council - Greater Toronto Chapter is honoured to once again be part of the Green
Building Festival and IIDEX. We are seeking Chapter members to staff our booth on
September 24th and 25th
at the Direct Energy Centre in Toronto
. We require 2 volunteers per time slot (3 hours).

Volunteer opportunities for the Green Building Festival

The Green building Festival is looking for volunteers with an interest in green building to assist with onsite
coordination, assisting speakers and attendees. Volunteers who register for a 1/2 day shift are invited to stay
for the remainder of the day, including access to sessions and the IIDEX/Neocon Trade show, free of charge.
It’s a great way to learn about the latest green building issues.  Registration is on a first come first serve basis.
