Chapter Meeting – Building Performance: “20 by ‘15” and GreenUp.

On December 3rd we’ll be hosting our final Chapter meeting of the year and we’re delighted to feature two presentations on building performance measurement and benchmarking. Our first presentation will be from Dr. Michael Brooks, CEO of the Real Property Association of Canada (RealPAC) and Associate Professor at Ryerson’s Ted Rogers School of Management. Michael will be presenting on RealPAC’s recently announced target to achieve “20 by ’15”, Achieving the Office Building Target of 20 ekWh/ft2/year by 2015.

Our second presentation will be from Mr. Ian Jarvis of Enerlife Consulting. Ian will be introducing us to the CaGBC’s GreenUp program. The GREEN UP Program provides tools, performance standards and resources to help building owners and operators understand, measure and compare on-going performance of their building portfolio.

The Chapter meeting will be held during the Construct Canada Conference at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre – South Building, Room 716B on the evening of December 3rd. Participants in the meeting will also be given access to the trade show exhibition floors at Construct Canada for all three days of the event.

Chapter Annual General Meeting

As many of you may recall, the Chapter has traditionally held its Annual General Meeting in early December during the Construct Canada Conference. This will not be the case this year. Due to a variety of organizational changes, we will be moving our Chapter AGM to the Spring of 2010. Although the reasons for this are many, the principal factors influencing this decision centre on our need for accurate year-end financial reporting at the AGM and some anticipated changes to our membership structure and corresponding changes to our Chapter by-laws. More information will be made available on the AGM and changes in the New Year. It is our hope that a Spring Chapter AGM could be coupled with a Chapter Gala.

Chapter Gala Committee Seeking Volunteers

We are delighted that Mara Del Bianco, an active Member of the Chapter since our inception, has agreed to Chair the Chapter’s Gala Committee. Mara is currently seeking experienced volunteers to work with her and form the Chapter Gala Committee. A call for volunteers has been posted to our Web site here: /cagbc-toronto/get-involved/volunteer
