Who are Emerging Green Professionals?
Our mission is to support the Canada Green Building Council - Greater Toronto Chapter's (CaGBC-GTC) mission of facilitating market transformation by supporting students and new professionals through educational programs, career development opportunities, and networking events.
EGP is an official committee of the CaGBC-GTC with full representation on the board. The committee is lead by two co-chairs and eight executive members. We have 100 associate members which is about 30 percent of the Chapter membership. Emerging Green Professionals are seen as the future of the Chapter and therefore enjoy the benefits of regular chapter members at a discounted annual rate.
Our committee is made up entirely of dedicated volunteers and we strongly rely on sponsors to help subsidize the cost of materials, marketing, venues and modest refreshments at our events. If you are interested in EGP sponsorship opportunities, please contact greatertorontochapter [at] cagbc.org*
If you would like to join the Committee, please review the Emerging Green Professionals Executive Committee Application

2017 EGP Events
|March 9, 2016||
On March 9, 2017 the Emerging Green Professionals held a two speaker event discussing what makes a city resilient, how Toronto is doing on the resilience scale, and what is on the agenda for our city on the path towards resilience. EGPs had the opportunity to learn about the social and physical aspects of resilience, how to get involved, and gain a higher understanding of urban resiliency.
|May 10, 2017||EGP Mentor Mixer Event||
This popular event came back for another year! On May 10, 2017 industry up-and-comers will have the opportunity to meet and interact with some of Toronto’s biggest movers and shakers in the Green Building Industry. Leaders in Construction, Architecture, Energy, Finance and more will come out to meet with industry up-and-comers to share their stories and advice for career development. Participants will be placed into small groups, and will have the opportunity to sit down with each of the leaders. Hors d’oeuvres are on the house!
|TBD||Green Building Bike Tour||
The annual Green Building Bike Tour is the EGP's biggest summer attraction and has gained significant popularity over the last few years. The tour will focus on buildings within the Greater Toronto Area with exceptional sustainable features, providing attendees with the opportunity to learn and be inspired. Cyclists will visit buildings and listen to representatives from each project team as they lead each tour.
The EGP Committee of the Canada Green Building Council - Greater Toronto Chapter will begin early preparations to host the annual enviroSCULPT competition. A fun and exciting contest for students and young professionals, enviroSCULPT aims to promote awareness of the importance of diverting materials from the waste stream and is designed to encourage the creative exploration of turning re-purposed materials into beautiful works of art. All finalists will receive free admission to the CaGBC Greater Toronto Chapter Gala and Awards!
