EVENT DETAILS

Southern Ontario is seeing an unprecedented boom in high-rise residential master planned developments, particularly in light of the numerous new master-planned developments emerging throughout GTA, including Waterfront Toronto, Vaughan Metropolitan Centre, CityPlace, and the Mirvish Village and Galleria Mall redevelopments. This relatively new development typology presents a number of unique challenges and opportunities:

  • Are we building communities with a high quality of life?
  • Can these developments support economic vitality?
  • How should we approach public realm or infrastructural investments?
  • How can we ensure the environmental performance of the developments through design and occupancy?
  • What new technologies or strategies should we be incorporating into these buildings and communities?

The Vertical Neighbourhoods Summit was an intensive, full-day conference that explored ways in which we can create high-performance, livable, sustainable, and resilient high-rise neighbourhoods - covering topics surrounding environmental sustainability, infrastructural innovations, and the social and economic vitality of these new communities.

This workshop provided 8 GBCI-approved Continuing Education (CE) hours.
