This awards program recognizes projects and individuals that demonstrate advancement in the green building industry in Southern Ontario.  Four Innovation in LEED Awards and the Innovation in Sustainability Award were selected by our panel of experts. A separate panel evaluated the individual and enviroSCULPT awards.

The awards program expands the profile and reach of the gala while simultaneously celebrating individual contributions and innovative green building design and implementation in projects that have achieved LEED certification and beyond in Southern Ontario. 

The 8 awards include: 

  • Innovation in LEED Award (New Construction/Core and Shell)
  • Innovation in LEED Award (Commercial Interiors)
  • Innovation in LEED Award (Existing Buildings: Operations & Maintenance: EB:O&M)
  • Innovation in LEED Award (Residential)
  • Innovation in Sustainability Award (projects, programs or policies that are exceptionally innovative, but not necessarily tied to LEED)
  • Greater Toronto Chapter (GTC) Volunteer Award
  • Greater Toronto Chapter (GTC) Leader Award
  • Emerging Green Builder (EGB) enviroSCULPT Award


  • Contest is open to students or young professionals within 5 years of graduation or under 30 years of age.
  • Up to 2 individuals per team with at least one being an EGB member, find more information about becoming an EGB member by clicking here.
  • Create a sculpture made from materials that would otherwise be going in recycling bins or landfill. No new materials or new electricity allowed!
  • The maximum size for the complete sculpture is 7’H x 3’W x 4’D.
  • You are responsible for transport and assembly of your sculpture. It must fit through a standard commercial door (approx. 3’-0”W x 7’-0”H). You will be required to bring your sculpture to the judging location and if it is not selected to move on to the CaGBC Greater Toronto Chapter Gala you will be required to remove it from the judging location. If your sculpture is selected to move on to the CaGBC Greater Toronto Chapter Gala, you will be required to transport your sculpture to the CaGBC Greater Toronto Chapter Gala.
  • Non-toxic adhesives are permitted.
  • Spray paint and spray adhesives are not permitted.
  • You are required to write a short statement about your piece that includes concept, materials used and any other environmental considerations that were made while creating your sculpture. Please submit a digital copy of your write-up along with a photo of your creation, and bring a hard copy with you on the judging day – you will need to present this to the judges prior to judging.
  • Any entries that do not comply with the rules will be disqualified and will not be eligible for prizes.

  • Nominations for all awards will only be accepted if submitted from current Greater Toronto Chapter members.
  • Only one lead submission per project will be accepted and all project team members are asked to be identified on pages 8,9, & 10. If multiple entries are received for the same project, we reserve the right to require a collaborative submission.
  • LEED Certified within the last 2 years (not applicable to the Innovation in Sustainability Award).
  • Submissions will be accpted for projects in Southern Ontario within the boundaries shown in the map below. (If you would like to be considered a  nomination, but are outside of these  boundaries, please contact Courtney Good at


  1. Double check your project or individual nomination meets the criteria for that particular award
  2. Attach the submission form and THREE high resolution photographs (no smaller than 1920 x 1080P), and your LEED scorecard (for Innovation in LEED Awards). 
  3. You must fill out one of the following forms in order to submit your nomination:
